Things To Do In Sydney

Thinking of heading to Sydney? After a recent visit, I decided to compile a few fun activities I did there…

Manly Bike Ride

For $28 per person, you can take a bike tour of Manly and Shelly Beach. It’s a fantastic way to see some incredible views of Sydney Harbour. You’ll also discover deserted beaches and isolated coves. For the price of the tour, you get bike hire and a customized guide map to tell you all the highspots (and so you don’t get lost). If you’re feeling a bit more adventurous, cycle out to Manly Dam and enjoy the tranquility of Australia’s bush. If you don’t fancy the self-guided ride, you can opt for a 2 hour guided tour around Manly, during which you’ll hear all about the history of this beautiful town. Price includes bike and helmet hire, refreshments, tour guide, and exclusive access to local attractions. The tours do fill up quite quickly, so you should book to avoid disappointment.

Sydney Harbour Cruise

The iconic Sydney Harbour is best seen from as many angles as possible. A guided cruise through the waters around the harbour is one of life’s great pleasures. A number of cruises operate (mostly from Wharf no.6 on the west side of Circular Quay), and they are largely comfortable. Of course, you can just as easily catch a Sydney ferry. The views are equally special – not to mention that it’s cheaper. The main benefit of the cruise is the guided commentary, and the fact that it lasts longer. I did both to compare, but I would advise doing the Manly Ferry first, and then deciding whether or not you want to take the guided cruise.

Manly Canoeing

Hiking the trail from Manly to the famous Spit is an unforgettable experience. The coastline is dramatic, the bush is alive – you will see plenty of aboriginal engravings and native areas. After a hike, you can take an incredible paddle kayaking tour from Clontarf beach, exploring the secluded coves and shimmering waters of Middle Harbour. But be warned, this day’s adventure is only for the very fit!
